Biography


Born on July 16, 1974, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Amy White is a senator for the state of Connecticut. Amy first lived in a small house in Waterbury with her parents and 2 siblings.When she was seven, however, her family decided to move to the next door suburb of Wolcott, CT. Amy’s mother, Kathy White, worked as an office assistant for the company Coca-Cola while her father worked as a plastic welder and is a member of the labor union.



Amy attended her local high school for four years and graduated at the top of her class. After high school, she continued her education at Boston University with an academic scholarship as a political science major. After college, Amy worked as a teacher in the city for 5 years. During her years as a teacher, Amy continued her education at Columbia University and graduated magna cum laude.


After law school, Amy worked as lawyer for a firm in New York City. During her time in the city, Amy participated in many political events including organizing groups for Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign. After living in New York City for 3 years, Amy returned to her home state, Connecticut and decided to run for a seat on the Senate and won in 2004.


While Amy serving  as a Senator for the past 10 years she pushed legislation for her state such as gun control laws and civil rights including gay marriage and abortion. Amy has been known to be willing to compromise with her Republican colleagues while also ensuring she gets the best for her constituents. Amy has been the chairwoman for the Senate Appropriations committee since 2008. Amy also served as the majority leader for the 112th Congress from 2010 to 2012.
Amy decided to run for the Presidency in 2014 because she believes America needs change and there is hope for the nation to prosper despite hard times.
